2017 Fashion Trends to Keep for 2018

2017 Fashion Trends to Keep for 2018

In today’s ever-changing fashion environment, keeping on top of trends can be difficult. It seems that by the time you finally get on top of the new “in” style, it suddenly is replaced and tossed aside by the next trending “in” item.  With the changing of the year and the added pressure to conform to the “new year, new me” slogan here are six items that will be trendy in 2018 but you already have it in your closet from last year.

Instead of doing a closet purge and just donating all of last year’s items to a consignment shop, keep these pieces of clothing and bring them back to life with other 2018 trends.

Baggy Denim

Denim jeans are a staple of every women’s closet and by now you probably have a good collection of skinny, flare, boot cut, straight leg, boyfriend jeans and maybe even the up incoming trend of the season: baggy denim. The 90’s inspired style is popping up everywhere and can be found in light or dark wash. Pair them with a colorful blouse that is tucked into the waistband or with a white top and sneakers. If you really want to go for the full 90’s look buy a pair of ripped baggy wide leg jeans and cuff the bottoms.

 Satin Everything

Satin is in heavy rotation this coming season. From dresses to blouses, trousers, and coats this sheen fabric looks ultra-luxe and is perfect for any occasion. You’ll be getting the ultimate ‘70’s vibe from a sleek fabric dress when you pair it with tall boots and a turtleneck sweater. Or pair a satin pajama-style shirt with high-waist straight leg pant and your best pair of loafers

Color Blocking

When it comes to color pairings for 2018 there is a bold color combination that we will see over and over this season. Clashing purples, reds, and pinks. Color blocking is back and bolder than ever. Wear these solid color combinations together as dresses, skirts, trousers, and blouses. Just in time for winter you can layer these pieces up to be street style ready and stay warm from the snow at the same time.

Loafers and Mules

Mules and loafers offer a very stylish but very easy and comfortable way to look put together. They can be a solid color velvet, have intricate embroidery, or have fur or feathers attached to them. Great for wearing with frayed jeans, an oversized sweater, and a trench coat.

Bright Red

Combat winter with this bold and bright colors that will not only wipe away your winter blues but it will make you excited to go out into the cold and show everyone your outfit. Red is the ultimate pop of color to add to any outfit this winter. The easiest way to do this is to grab those red boots out of your closet and pair them with a sweater dress and tights or frayed denim jeans.

With the start of the new year, colors like millennial pink are behind us. We look forward to what the new year will bring us. With purple declared the color of the year by Pantone it’s no surprise that lavender is about to make its way into all of our closets. This soft and gentle color is such a pretty hue that it can be worn in so many different ways. The best way being with a pair of jeans that will offer a chic color contrast.

I like these fashion transitioning ideas! I was never in any danger of doing total closet purge, but I could certainly stand to let go of a lot of old clothes.
I’ve thought about getting a nice pair of high-waisted mom jeans.
I love satin!!!!! It feels wonderful and I love the sheen.
I too like colour blocked complementary contrasting outfit pieces.
I could use some comfy slip-on footwear for around the house.
I like red in winter, especially when there’s snow on the ground.
I also love feminine colours like lavender.
