The month of September can be really difficult to dress for. In one day the weather can be chilly in the morning, humid in the afternoon, and sweltering hot by dinner time. This type of climate makes it really difficult to get dressed in the morning. I can’t wear my cable knit sweaters just yet, I have to have transition pieces that will help me get through the month. That is when I found the perfect army green jacket.
This jacket is the perfect lightweight layering piece for Fall. Now, this type of coat isn’t new, it’s been around for ages. There’s a reason they are called *army* jackets – it’s because they were worn in the 1800’s by… you guessed it, the army! This season the olive green jacket is making a comeback but in a more fashionable style. I was looking for outfit ideas on Pinterest when I realized just how versatile this jacket is! It can be worn as part of a casual, cute, or weekend outfit. Or you can style it to be dressier and more appropriate for work.
Here’s all the ways I styled the jacket:
Now, this jacket may seem like a more casual fashion piece, but it can actually be paired with dressier items to make a really cute outfit. I paired the jacket with a black and white button-down top, blue jeans, and white Sperry sneakers. Just having that collared top makes the whole outfit seem very put together. I would wear this outfit during the week if I need to run errands or while hanging out with friends.
Like I said above, this jacket is a more casual piece, so wearing it in a casual way, is very simple. Just go get a plain t-shirt, put the jacket over top, put on some jeans and pair all that with some athletic sneakers. You can even swap out the jeans for some leggings for the ultimate casual look. I would wear this outfit for just lounging around my house on the weekend or if I want to go walk around the park or …Target.
Dressing this jacket up to be appropriate for work can be a creative task! I had to consult Pinterest on ideas for how people could wear this to work. What I figured out is that all you need to do is wear a chiffon blouse or a pretty lace top underneath the jacket for a more suitable look. You can pair those with some cute skinny or flare jeans, brown boots, and a bag – for a very professional look.
Since we are still in a time where the weather is cold in the morning and hot by the afternoon, this jacket has been helping me out a lot. Today was weirdly 85 degrees outside and I wanted to wear a dress and still be covered up. So I paired the jacket with a more summertime floral dress. I chose to wear sandals with the outfit, but if I wanted my look to be more suited for Autumn, I could have worn knee-high boots with it. You could wear this look to work or out to one last summer barbecue party.
I am extremely glad that I found this jacket. Not only is it a great transition piece for the weather in-between summer and fall but, it is so versatile! I can go from wearing it to work on Friday, then out to happy hour drinks Friday night, and then I can even wear it when I am casually shopping on the weekend! It is also the perfect color! Olive green is one of the colors that I have included in my Autumn capsule wardrobe!
