I grew up having campfires all year long, it was my favorite thing to do. For my birthday each year as a kid, I would have a camping party where my dad would set up the tent in the backyard, we would play games, go swimming, and then roast marshmallows! It’s one of my favorite memories as a kid. Now that I’ve grown up, I still like having campfires and making s’ mores. It’s a great feeling starting a fire and cooking food over the open flame. There’s also nothing better than cozying up next to a crackling fire, sitting on a blanket surrounded by pillows, and feeling the warmth on your face.
It’s the perfect way to spend an autumn afternoon or a summer night. My family does both! In the summer it’s a bit different because we don’t need all the blankets, pillows and jackets. But I still love throwing sticks into the flames, catching fireflies and looking up at the stars in the sky. I’ve always wanted to have a campfire on the beach but sadly, I don’t live near any beaches that allow that. It would be so much fun to lay out some towels on the sand, have music playing, and cooking dinner over the open fire. I would love to be able to play in the ocean at night and then dry off with the warmth of the fire.
Having a campfire in autumn when it starts to get colder out, make a lot more sense. There’s nothing like having a fire when the cold crisp autumn air is blowing around. A campfire also wouldn’t be complete without the essentials like blankets, pillows, and mugs to sip on hot chocolate!
Whether it be summer or autumn check out what I always have with me for a campfire!
HERE ARE THE ESSENTIALS
If you live in a house an have a backyard area, you can set up a small fire pit area right there, just make sure to not have anything around the pit that can easily catch fire. If you live in an apartment complex like I do, you may have a designated fire pit area or you could go to a park that has some. You can also go to any campground and spend the night sleeping under the stars. If you do spend the night camping there are a few other essentials that you will need like food, water, a tent, firewood, and bedding like pillows and blankets.
There are also a few other things that you will need to make your campfire experience the best that it can be. Comfy chairs, marshmallows and bug spray. If you want to have an ultra-cozy campfire experience, I recommend hanging up string lights around the area or on the trees around you. You could also bring sparklers or glow sticks, a radio, some wine or beer, a stack of cards, or a good book to read by the light of the fire.
How do you do cozy campfire nights?
Camp fires are beautiful places to invite singing and dancing and carefree conversation. My family enjoys wood fires out by our pond with hotdogs and marshmallows. The cool night, stars, and warmth all go into one perfect bundle for us.
Campfires are so much fun! When I have a backyard big enough I’m def going to have a fire pit!

Ugh I looovvveee this! Living in a seaside town, I spent my teenage years sitting around a campfire with my friends. Especially on summer nights, it would be so nice to watch the sun set over the sea! Marshmallows and a cup of green tea are my campfire essentials for sure. xx

I remember doing this when I was in college and it was fun! The smores tasted good once I got rid of fear of my silly roommate making the fire too high!
Agh, I am now refurnishing my place — I didn’t need to see those pillows. F—!
