My Blogging Desk Area

It’s important for me to have a space where all my blogging plans and thoughts are in one space. I need an area to keep ideas, calendars, photo schedules, and blog post drafts. I created this little area in my apartment so that I can have all those things in one place. Now I don’t blog full time because of my job and school but I do sit down to blog for a couple hours each weekend. I needed to have space that sparked my creativity and my motivation to get stuff done.

My blogging area is technically a shared space in the extra room of our apartment. We treat it as the office/cat room. His desk in against one wall and mine is on the other. This area is also the cat room  because they sleep here during the day because the room gets the most sunlight during the day.

This space needed to be clean and organized so that I can focus and get my work done. Since I have a very short attention span, it’s important to me to have everything near me that I need and can reach right when I need it. I have folders that are labels from notes I take, I have blogging books that are highlighted with advice tidbits, and I also have my social media and blog stats that I print out and keep track of each month. My computer holds a lot more information on it, from content calendars, to social media schedulers, to photo inspirations, and blog post drafts. There’s a lot of information and tools that I use so it’s important for it all to be organized and right at my fingertips.

Here’s what featured in my blogging desk area:

Calendars

I love to plan out everything. I use my phone calendar for personal things, I use my Outlook calendar to plan out my work day and I use an Excel calendar on my computer to plan out all my blogging content. It’s important for me to be able to psychically see when I will  be posting things on my blog and social media. This way I can plan out my week by seeing what needs to be written, photographed, edited, or posted. Now I don’t have a big calendar that I write all my post down and when I’m going to publish them because it changes all the time. With the Excel calendar, I can easily color code things that are done, move things around, and add in new posts.

Inspirational Quotes

I always love to have inspirational quotes and funny pictures in my work area so that I can look at them when I need to. I also love putting personal touches on everything so having the little pictures around me, make me feel comfortable and relaxed. For my area, I basically went to the craft store and bought a bunch of colorful frames, pictures, and knickknacks to put on and around my desk. I simply printed out quotes and funny pictures that I liked and put them in the frames and hung them on the wall.

Office Supplies

Even though most of my work is on the computer, I do use a lot of office supplies to help me with my with my planning and writing. First off, I love having colorful pens and highlighters, as well as every color post-it note. It just makes my day better when I can take notes in purple pen. I also use a lot of tape, staples, printer paper, paperclips, and more. A trip to Staples or Target will help you get whatever you need!

Planners/Notebooks

At the beginning of this year I was determined to have a blogging notebook where I kept track of what I was going to post, my monthly goals, and ideas that I had for posts or social media. There’s an area just for post ideas that pop into my head, 12 pages to track my goals and accomplishments each month, and a social media post area. I write down a lot of ideas so it’s nice to have it all in one notebook instead of 100 small post-it notes.

Cute Desk Decor

At work I have little things all around me that bring me joy. Pictures of my friends, family and cats, a Himalayan salt lamp, a real plant and a fake one, lotions, and a cute pen holder. My blogging desk is very similar to that expect for the amount of stuff that I have. My blogging desk has my favorite fashion and blogging books, huge frames, my college degree, and small cute things like succulents, cat figurines, and holiday decor.

Folders

Everything has a place in my blogging area and that is thanks to the many folders that I have. Target has such cute ones that fit perfectly in my folder frame. I like to keep notes I’ve taken, social media tracking sheets, my current media kit, e-book print outs from other bloggers, and all the campaigns that I have done. Being organized is key and these folders help me find what I’m looking for right away. I also have many folders on my computer that are organized so that I can easily find what I need.

I desperately need a space like this! I don’t have an office space and I’ve been procrastinating getting one since we moved into this house! There is an extra room upstairs but I haven’t even gotten a desk for it yet!

I already told you IRL I like this post, but I LOVE this post. I am nibby AF and love knowing what people have in their work areas. I think, like most things, it’s extremely telling of someone’s personality.

I love this! Blogging is my life and I so desperately need a space like yours. I’m still doing everything sitting on the couch, which definitely doesn’t product maximum productivity.

Sounds like you’re well organized! I’d love to have some space dedicated to this! At the moment it’s a case of laptop, balancing a cuppa and the biscuits on the sofa!

Desk goals. Unfortunately my desk is a shared area that my fiancé uses most of the time as he works from home so it’s not exactly my dream set up, we have to use our spare room though and it’s just not big enough for two separate work areas otherwise I’d be going to town on creating my dream desk space!

Inspirational quotes; an oversight on the desks of many people. I too love my planners and notebooks, folders, and pens, but without inspiration, there is nothing! Love the “you got this” quote here.

I love this! It’s so interesting to see how another blogger works and what their space is like! I love how yours is part of the cat room. That must make it so cozy to blog where the kitties are 🙂 Right now I don’t have a blogging area (sad, I know), so I go where I can and if not, I plop a pillow on my lap and type away. Hopefully I’ll get my own blogging space soon! I’m sure I’ll be more productive that way, haha.

Great post! I don’t have a dedicated blogging space, but now I am doing more blogging – I would like to set something up. Something with storage for my photography bits and pieces and a few little homely touches like photos to keep me going when motivation is a bit low!

It’s so helpful to have a dedicated work space at home. I love my cloffice (closet + office) room. It’s where I work all day on my blog, film any videos, and plan all my photoshoots. It’s bright and spacious, and it makes me so happy. I also have it organized to my liking with fun props, planners, and more. Sounds like you have a space you love too!
