I started blogging almost two years ago and I created my blog mainly because I was so bored at my job at the time, that I needed something to do. Fast forward to now and I’m so busy with a million things going on in my life. I have a full time job that keeps me busy 40-50 hours during the work week and on the weekends I work a part time job to help pay off my credit cards. If that didn’t already suck up all my time, I am so trying complete my masters degree online, which should be finished by May of 2020.
As much as I enjoy my work and getting my second degree, I do like to do things that I enjoy like blogging, photography, and running my site. It has been a struggle to keep up with blogging because honestly work and school come before it. I have fallen behind on posting throughout the year and try to catch up when I have the time. Instagram has been such a pain for me that I have completely given up on posting even though I do want to get back into it soon. I do love posting on Twitter thought, and I’ve made so many great connections through that social media platform.
So here is an honest truth about how I get all my work done and keep up with my blog:
BLOG WORK
I originally told you that at my old job I had a lot of free time so that I was able to keep up with posting and social media. At my current job as an assistant buyer, I am very busy and don’t have a ton of free time to work on my blog. That statement is true but I do still have some free time to work on things that I want to. Today, I am writing this blog post at work because I finished all my work for the day and had four hours until the end of the day. Luckily, I don’t have any homework that is due today so I can just write blog posts all afternoon. I write 90% of my blog posts at work because that is where I am most productive. I do most my blog planning at home and obviously all my photos are taken during my free time at home.
HOMEWORK
My homework is what comes second to my actual work and I do have a great system for getting my school work done. Thankfully, my program at school is online so I don’t have to go to any actual classes and I can do everything on my own time. Also, the due dates are always on a Monday, Wednesday, or Friday so I can plan accordingly for when I’m going to get my assignments done. I have one binder that holds all my school work so that I can easily bring it back and forth to work with me. I don’t do that much school work at work but I do read my assigned readings during my lunch breaks. If I do start my homework at work, I have Google drive folders where I save all my work so that I can pick up where I left off when I get home. I do about 80% of my homework from the couch in my apartment after I come home from work everyday.
I budget out my time very well and my work calendar has every hour blocked out with something to do. If I didn’t plan out all my time and when I am going to get things done, work wouldn’t get completed and things would be forgotten. It is a lot balancing two jobs, school work and blogging, but I have the time to get them done. I don’t have a lot of free time to do other things like watching Netflix, napping, shopping but I make it work. I do have a lot of help from my boyfriend with chores that need to be done around our apartment, we do our best to keep it clean and organized.
My part time job is just temporary, I just wanted to earn extra money to get ahead on my credit cards. So I will have my weekends back soon but for now I need to utilize every waking hour that I have. If I’m just sitting down doing nothing, there’s something I should be doing. Now it is important to relax and take time for myself so that I don’t burn out and I do that. I make sure to get a full eight hours of sleep each night, I make time to play with my cats and spend time with my family and boyfriend. Just because I have every hour of my day planned out doesn’t mean that I’m working 24/7. I plan in time to relax and take breaks so that I don’t burnout and wear myself out.
Oh wow, two jobs, studying AND blogging. You go girl! I have only one job and I’m already moaning about how much energy it’s sucking out of me. Time management is so important and you’re so good at it! I enjoyed this post, thank you! 😊

Gosh I was once in a really similar position when I did my masters and had a full time job and side job too! It was so difficult and I really struggled to have energy at all, thanks for sharing x

I’m in total awe of you for how you’re fitting everything in! I’m struggling to manage my time with blogging, working full time and housework and everything else so it was interesting to see how someone else manages everything! Thank you for sharing 😊
I had to read this–totally admire your drive and hustle. I like how you’ve emphasized staying organized and scheduling–it’s amazing how much more we can do when we work with intention, isn’t it?
Definitely got LOTS on your plate girl, but good for you for getting it done! Sometimes we gotta do what we gotta do, and you just make time for it! No excuses.
Wow. I so admire your productivity. I am struggling to get myself organized. Great post, and very inspiring.
This was a great post! I have such a hard time going to school, working, and keeping up with my blog. I definitely put my blog on the back burner when it comes to school, but I think I have to manage my time better like you suggested.
Dang, you are busy! But I commend you for keeping up with everything. It shows that you are very organized to keep up with everything and not get burnt out. I think it’s great that you have taken on that temporary second job to pay off your credit cards, that will help immensely as you won’t have to worry about paying them off or incurring debt because of them.
Well done to you for getting so much done and staying on top of it all! That’s a huge accomplishment. I definitely need to get better at planning out my day and fitting in work, blog, life, etc. Thanks for the inspiration!
I work a 9-5, teach dance, blog and am currently studying for a course plus seeing clients for that course. It hard but if your motivated and organised you can fit it all in! It’s nice to see someone in a similar position :)x
Goodness, you are super organised! I have a part-time job, plus I freelance, and I have a family, so blogging has to squeeze in around where it can. I know what you mean about Twitter and Instagram, I feel exactly the same. And don’t even get me started on Facebook, haha. Good luck with your course in the meantime! 🙂
