5 Things You Can Do To Make It Feel Like Fall

The months of September to November are my favorite time of year. The leaves start to change, knit sweaters are acceptable to wear again and there is so much good food! Not to mention it’s the spooky season on Halloween! I love decorating my home for the season and participating in a variety of Fall activities.

The weather is cooler, the air is crisper, and everything is just a little bit cozier. To get in the spirit of the season, here are my favorite things to do to make it feel like Fall! Whether you want to cuddle up inside with a cup of warm apple cider and watch one of the best Halloween movies of all time on, Hocus Pocus or take a long scenic drive to admire all the breathtaking autumnal foliage, there is no shortage of fall activities to enjoy. There’s cozy flannel button-downs, fresh apple pie, hayrides, and ghost tours all to look forward too!

Light Fall Scented Candles

I love candles and always have them burning in my home all year long. As soon as it starts to get cold out I bring out the pumpkin and apple scented candles. I love the way they make my apartment smell and feel. Home Goods is my favorite place to get those candles but you can pick them up at any store. If you don’t want an open flame in your home, try a wax warmer. They can stay out of sight from children and pets and still make your home smell amazing. This pumpkin Rae Dunn candle pictured below is what I currently have in my home and it smells AMAZING!

Watch Halloween Movies

Even though I don’t like scary movies, I do love Halloween themed movies. Halloweentown, Beetlejuice, and Hocus Pocus are a few of my favorites. Freeform has the 31 nights of Halloween special every October and I watch it every night! Turn off all the lights, light a candle, grab some popcorn and cozy up to a spooky movie each night. There are some great movies on Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. Tonight we’re going to watch The Addams family and tomorrow will be the Corpse Bride.

Visit a Fall Festival

One of my favorite things to do in Fall is to visit a pumpkin patch or go apple picking. Near my house, there is a farm that puts on this big fall festival each year that features all these seasonal activities. I work here during the fall as my second job just to bring in a little extra cash.

Pictured below you can see everything that is offered and all the pumpkins that you can buy! There also apple picking and shooting, hayrides, a corn maze, petting zoo, and tons of food. I do love going there each weekend because it’s the ultimate place to be during Autumn.

Go to a Haunted House

Now, I’m not a big fan of haunted houses and things that scare me but I know a lot of people who love that sort of thing. There are many haunted attractions that you can go to all October long, you just look up what’s around you! If you don’t like things or people jumping out to scare you, try going on a ghost tour through your town or graveyard. I loved going on ghost tours in Salem, Massachusetts and would love to go on local ones in my city.

Eat Pumpkin and Apple Cider Flavored Everything

One of the easiest things you can do to get yourself into the fall spirit is to eat/drink pumpkin and apple cider flavored items. The pumpkin spice latte being the most popular drink is not my favorite to drink in Fall. In my eyes, apple cider is the superior autumn drink. It’s good cold, hot and in donut form. If you haven’t tried and apple cider donut, you have too, they are delicious! If you do go apple picking this season, get enough apples to make an apple pie or my favorite apple crisp. I also love making pumpkin pie and cookies!

When the weather starts to cool down and the leaves start to change colors, that means you’ve made it to the best season of the year. Autumn is so spectacular because of the endless amount of cozy fall activities you can do!

What a fun list! It definitely makes me excited that autumn is finally here. I can’t eat anything with apples since I’m allergic (huge sigh since I prefer them to pumpkin) but I’ll be lighting apple-scented non-soy candles whenever I get the chance! Great suggestions 🙂
