At the beginning of 2019, I set goals for myself and my blog. They were things like to plan out all my blog posts ahead of time, eat more vegetables, learn how to use my camera more and to keep up with my school work and working a full-time job. I did accomplish some of these goals like eating more veggies, keeping up with my school work and planning my blog posts out but I have failed at other goals that I have set for myself. You can read about how I kept up with my 2019 goals here.
For the new year, I wanted to set more attainable goals that I can accomplish and feel good about getting them done. I plan on writing all my goals in a notebook and breaking it out by month. Breaking it out by month will help me to work on my long list of goals in small amounts. Then at the end of each month, I’ll look back and check off what I did or did not do.
20 Goals for 2020
1. Make a recipe book for myself – I want to type up and print out my favorite recipes and have old family recipes all in one place. That way if I find a new meal that I love, I can add it to the book.
2. Eat more vegetables – I know this was my goal for 2019 but I need to have a veggie with every meal, even breakfast. I have been introducing them more into every meal and learned that I like brussel sprouts!
3. Take more blog photos of myself – I got into the habit of using stock photos and taking pictures that I’m not in. In the new year, there will be more photos of myself for my blog and social media.
4. Listen to 1 Audiobook a month – I have a long drive to and from work every day so it would be nice to use that time to listen to a book rather than just listening to the radio
5. Go rock climbing – Now not real rock climbing scaling the side of a mountain but rock climbing in an indoor gym with mats and harnesses and people spotting you.
6. Learn more about my family tree and history – Last year for Christmas my mom got me an Ancestry DNA kit so I learned what parts of the world my family came from but I want to learn more from my grandparents who are getting older.
7. Have dinner with my parents every couple of weeks – since I don’t live at home with my parents anymore, it would be nice to sit down and eat at home or a restaurant with them to talk about what’s going on in our lives.
8. Pay off my Car – I’ve had my car for about 4 years now and in October it should be completely paid off!
9. Hang up my clothing – It sounds like a simple task but I have so much clothing that just becomes a giant pile on my bedroom floor. I need to hang them up and keep my floor clean.
10. Buy more plants – Usually, I kill plants but I have been doing a good job at keeping the plants I bought at The Sill alive.
11. Travel to a couple of different states that I haven’t been too – My work is opening a new store in Ohio next fall and my brother will be graduating from the University of Utah. I will also be traveling to Minnesota to visit my family over the summer.
12. Get a passport – I’ve always wanted to travel to Ireland or Italy so getting a passport will actually allow me to do that.
13. Pack my lunch – Spending money on lunch multiple times a week is not good for my wallet. I need to start meal prepping and bringing my own lunch every day.
14. Move into a house – My boyfriend and I have been saving up to buy a house and have a place all to ourselves with no noisy neighbors making weird noises all through the night.
15. Increase my crystal collection – I’ve always loved crystals and cool rocks but I really want to grow my collection of cute crystals to keep on my windowsill.
16. Wake up earlier on workdays – I usually leave myself 20-30 minutes to get ready in the morning and them I’m always late and half dressed. I need to start waking up earlier to allow myself more time to get ready.
17. Drink more water – Cut out the soda and sugar iced teas and just have water. It will lower my sugar intake and hopefully clear up my skin.
18. Graduate grad school – I only have 2 more classes to complete for my marketing degree and then I will officially be done with school and have a master’s degree!
19. Pay off my student loans – I had to take out loans to pay for my master’s degree so I would love to pay back all the money that I owe the bank.
20. Build up my muscle strength – I don’t have much muscle strength in my arms so I would really like to start lifting small weights. I created a board on Pinterest with workout routines that I can do!
These are great goals!! I would also like to drink more water and travel more 🙂 Have a Happy New Year!!

Happy New Year!
Great goals! One of mine is to take more photos for my blog too. I tend to rotate a few that I’ve already taken but need more of a variety.
It’s a great goal for the new year!
I definitely ately need to drink more water! haha, loved the post x
Thank you!
Really enjoyed this! Great goals, I’m adopting a good few of them. Thanks for sharing this 🙂
So glad you liked the post!
I love your goals. Some are nice and simple while others will take more work. I think you will have no problem reaching all of them.
Thank you! I hope to do them all!
I love the idea of making your own recipe book. There are several recipes that I make pretty well. When people ask for the recipes, I don’t know what to say because I never measure anything when I cook. I should really write things down so I can pass them along to other people. Thanks for the idea!
I’ve been wanting to put together my own recipe book for a couple years now.
These seem like really great goals! Good luck with 2020, I bet it will be a great one! 💕
thank you so much!
Happy New Year! These are some great goals! Making your own recipe books sounds like a great idea! It would be nice to have a collection of your favorite recipes. I also need to work more on hanging my clothes up instead of throwing them on the floor. I probably need to donate some clothing from my closet too. I would also love to wake up earlier-I always leave last minute for work. I think it would be nice to leave more time to relax and read a little or something to start off my day with something I enjoy. Good luck with your goals this year!
Sounds like we have a lot of the same goals for this year!
Crystal collection! I love the sound of that.
I am getting a nice picture of you with your clothes on the floor and dead houseplants in the windows. 🙂 With a little bit of determination, I hope the new year brings in the changes you have resolved to see.
Creating a recipe book sounds like a beautiful idea! I am inspired.
haha it’s like you know me so well! I hope this year brings me these things!
I’m excited to see what you find in the new states that you visit. Maybe Alaska someday, heard its beautiful in summer 🙂
I’ve heard Alaska is beautiful but that is a little far from PA. I’m hoping to travel too Ohio, Minnesota, and Utah this year
From a house to paying off debt, these are some incredible goals! I wish you the best of luck in all of your pursuits. You’ve got this!
I’ve personally never written goals (not sure how I’ve never gotten into the habit of it) for each new year, but this year is a bit different so I decided to write down my goals (still have to set up my bullet journal though!
I love the idea of making a recipe book for yourself – especially to include family recipes, those are the best but also really crazy to make as measurements never really exist and everything is by eye haha. Rock Climbing is super fun and challenging, you’ll definitely feel sore after but it’s so much fun and great exercise to do with friends!
Drinking more water is always high on my list of things to do each day – it’s so so important to be hydrated!
Yay for building muscle strength! For arms, I 100% recommend planks as well, they’re brutal but so so worth it for arm strength!

I will try out planks to build up my arm strength. I hope we both accomplish these goals this year!
These are some great goals! I would love to travel more in 2020. I also got used to using stock photos in most of my blog posts, and would love to get creative and start taking my own pictures. Good luck in 2020!
Here’s to taking more blog photos this year!
These are great goals! You should def get a passport, Ireland and Italy and two of my fav countries!! Traveling is the best thing ever!!
Also, want to start drinking more water and work on my arm strength too!
I hope to get a passport soon! I really want to visit those places!
I really want to go rock climbing this year! I want to do so many different things this year!
Love, Amie ❤
The Curvaceous Vegan
I hope we both get to go rock climbing!
Such good goals – water and audiobooks is something we definitely share. I hope 2020 is a good year for you and you but all your goals too x
Thank you!
I genuinely love some of your goals because if I’m completely honest I can relate to them so so much, especially paying off a car and hanging up clothes one of my worse habits is taking washing out of the washing machine and just leaving it for days x
haha we’re the same! I do really struggle with leaving my clothes everywhere lol.
Those are some good goals, I might just have to borrow a few! I’m also planning to star in a few more of my blog photos myself. Great idea to drink more water, I find that having herbal teas, with no caffeine and also coconut water also helps!
I should try coconut water and herbal teas!
I hope you achieve these goals! I’m hoping to have a regular workout routine this year. Great post by the way ♡

So glad you liked my post!
These are such lovely goals for the year.
All very achievable and realistic. I wish you all the best with them x
Thank you so much!
Good for you for setting so many attainable goals for the new year! I share many of the same (I have to force myself to eat vegetables cause I hate them so much, but I really really need to prioritize eating them!). Best of luck with everything, especially buying a new house, that’s so exciting!
Thank you so much!
Such a fantastic post. One of my goals for the year is also to take more photos of myself and step outside of my comfort zone. I’m so used to sharing what I’m doing and forgot that it’s actually important for my audience to know who I am too. I think it’s also going to transform the way I feel about myself too and am already noticing small improvements.
Wishing you a fantastic 2020!

These are great goals Lindsey! I love the one where you mention about researching your family’s history! That is something I would love to do for myself! x

A lovely list of goals! I especially love the cookbook one, that’s something I’ve been meaning to do as I think I can be quite creative when it comes to custom recipes (i totally don’t steal them off Pinterest and tweak them and then call them my own!)
haha
