With Cinco De Mayo and summer right around the corner, it’s time to start making my favorite fruit margaritas again! I enjoy making these drinks right as the weather starts to get warmer because I like sipping on outside on my porch after a long day of work. Now listen, sweet wine will always be my go-to drink all year long but I am a sucker for a frozen mixed drink.
This past week I found an amazing alcoholic drink recipe that is delicious and easy to make. I think I will be drinking it all season long. A grapefruit margarita only takes about 5 minutes to put together and it’s absolutely delicious.
I was able to buy everything I needed at my local grocery store and we served them with a Mexican dinner of enchiladas with a side of chips and salsa.
There is tequila in this recipe and you can use whatever brand you desire. There is also Triple Sec in the drink and I always have Grand Marnier on hand (because I love to use it in margaritas!) and it was perfect here. Pour in some Sprite or 7Up soda and mix the drink. I hope you find them as tasty as I did!
- 3 large red grapefruit
- 1 ½ tsp kosher or margarita salt
- ¾ cup white tequila
- ¼ cup Triple Sec
- ½ cup lemon lime soda
- Halve the grapefruit and squeeze 2 cups juice, reserving 1 squeezed half.
- Add the salt to a small dish. Use reserved grapefruit half to moisten the rims of 4 margarita or cocktail glasses. Dip glasses into the salt to coat rims, then fill with ice.
- To a cocktail shaker, add grapefruit juice, tequila, and triple sec. Add ice, cover, and shake well. Strain into rimmed glasses and top each with the lemon-lime soda.
Let me know if you’ve tried the drink!
