Tropical Summer Smoothie with Seasonal Fruits

summer fruit smoothie

When I am cooking or baking, I like to use seasonal fruits and vegetables in what I’m making. Fall is known for pumpkin, winter for cranberries, spring for fresh berries, and summer is for fruits of all kinds! Warm weather brings a plethora of fruits like strawberries, peaches, plums, cherries, raspberries, and watermelon. A great way for you to enjoy all these natural and delicious foods is to mix them all in a summer smoothie!

I’ve been on a massive smoothie kick for the past couple of weeks because we purchased a heavy-duty blender that can handle everything you throw in it. I love making protein shakes in it after I workout at home, or making my favorite grapefruit margarita in the blender! This past week I have been making fresh fruit smoothies because of all the produce I bought at our local farmers market.

I found this super easy smoothie recipe for you all to try if you happen to have a bunch of fruit lying around as I do. You can also use frozen fruit from the grocery store if you don’t have access to fresh fruit where you live. For this smoothie, I use mango strawberries and pineapple pieces but you can use whatever fruit you like! If you want the smoothie to be healthier, add in some spinach or kale. Do you have some bananas starting to turn brown? Throw them in!

This recipe also uses vanilla yogurt which can be substituted with regular milk or almond milk or you can use Greek yogurt too. For the orange juice, you can use the store-bought kind or you can make your own juice if you have some oranges you need to use up.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 1/2 cups frozen mango chunks
  • 1 cup frozen strawberries
  • 1 cup frozen sweet pineapple
  • 2 cups orange juice
  • 1 cup vanilla yogurt

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Pour the orange juice into a blender. Add fruit and blend until fully puréed. Since it’s frozen, you may need to stop blending and stir up the fruit a bit.
  2. Add yogurt and blend again until completely combined.
  3. Pour into a tall glass and enjoy!

This sounds like it would taste AMAZING. I normally just make a simple strawberry and banana smoothie so I definitely need to start branching out and trying smoothie recipes like this x

I have been obsessed with smoothies and shakes recently, and this one sounds delicious! Such a fun way to get all the nutrients of our favourite fruits on the go (which is the biggest challenge for me).

I struggle to get my daily service of fruits and veggies also so putting them in a smoothie is a great way to do it!

Hi Lindsey. That sounds delicious! Now all I have to do is find the blender (I know we have one somewhere!).
