Flowers are blooming, it’s no longer dark at 4 pm, the weather is getting warmer and spring fashion trends are here! After spending the winter months wearing black, blues, reds, and other dark color tones, it’s time to change and add lighter and fresher colors to our wardrobes.
Now you don’t have to go out and buy a completely new wardrobe to be in style for this season. In fact, you probably already have some of these items in your closet without realizing it. It’s all about how you style the pieces and what you pair together. Just by adding in a trend or two to your outfit, you can easily create a stylish spring outfit.
Here are 5 items you can add into your spring wardrobe:
Spring color trends will always include pastel tones. Think mint, lilac, light yellow, and washed-out bubblegum pink. This season we see a lot of knitwear in these colorful hues. So get that brightly colored sweater or pastel cardigan out of your closet and pair it with jeans and sneakers. If you’re not a color person, add an accessory like a pastel handbag or baseball hat for a spring touch.
Tie-Dye has become the pattern of the pandemic. The design made a major comeback last spring and has become a work from home wardrobe staple. I know you probably associate tie-dye as a 60’s hippie trend or a 90’s retro theme, but it’s actually very fashionable now to have the fun pattern on loungewear pieces. To ease into a tie-dye loungewear trend, start with a neutral tone tie-dye top and pair it with knit joggers or bike shorts. For a cooler take, get a matching tie-dye top and bottom set.
High-Waisted & Wide Leg Silhouettes
While skinny jeans and tapered bottom pants are still the most popular style, we are seeing more styles with wider leg silhouettes. Look for bottoms with raw hems, high waists, and button fronts. If you want to incorporate wider legs make sure that you are balancing it with a more fitted top. You will also see paper bag style waists with their wide ties in crops, shorts, and pant lengths.
Also thanks to Gen Z, we’re all supposed to wear straight-leg and boot-cut jeans now.
I bet that you have seen this trend at Target and scratched your head wondering “how can this possibly be fashionable”. But the prairie-style clothing trend is everywhere right now. Think small florals, high necklines, collars, buttons, ruffles, etc. You get the idea. This one might be harder to incorporate into your current wardrobe, but if you want something different and fun, this could fit the bill!
Ease is the name of the game with this trend. There are many different styles to choose from, whether you like wide straps, skinny straps, sparkles, bows, just about whatever your heart desires! A fun shoe is a great way to create casual spring/summer outfits that are simple, but chic!
And don’t forget! Florals are always in-style for spring and summer.
